Satchmo Diaries

Bob Waycott from Medium has written several great articles on customizing Satchmo. People on the Satchmo list have seen these but I think it will be useful to the broader Django community.

As of this entry, Bob has created 3 articles.

  • Part One describes creating some custom products in Satchmo.
  • Part Two talks about signals to do some creative things with pricing.
  • Part Three covers more ground with signals.

I've really enjoyed this series and shows how to do some really complex and customized coding with Satchmo without modifying the core code. This is a definite best practice and one of the key benefits of Django and Satchmo.

Hey Chris, thanks for the mention. A friend just pointed out I just hit #3 on the list at http://www.djangoproject.com/community/ ... Cool. For what it's worth, our company name is Medium. Labs is just the section of the site where we programmers write. Thanks again for the mention.

Hey Bob, Sorry about the mistake in the article. I've modified the post to include the correct name for your company. Thanks again for the great work. -Chris

It is very considerate that the articles written about customizing Satchmo are available to not only the people whose names are in the list but to all Django users as well. It’s great that we are being updated on the latest happening there at Satchmo and the 3 series mentioned above will be very useful stuff that’ll be really useful for us to learn so much about both Satchmo and Django!! Keep posting more of such interesting stuff!!
